Hori may be the most recognizable face of all of Ocean Drive’s Real Beauties this year: She’s the evening news anchor for the local CBS affiliate, WFOR. But when she’s not in front of a camera, this Miami transplant is a full-time mother to twin 4-year-old boys, Colt and Cade. Ever since Colt underwent open-heart surgery when he was just two days old, Hori has been committed to aiding organizations that help children. In fact, she recently cochaired an event for the Miami Children’s Hospital (where she’s a board member) that raised a whopping $450,000.
Neighborhood: Coral Gables.
Miami guilty pleasure: I love Yardbird Southern Table & Bar. They have the most insane fried chicken.

You strive to be: Kind to everyone, including animals.
Cause closest to your heart: Anything that helps children and their health.
Most reread book: I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life by Joel Osteen. You read a little bit each day, and I love that.
Biggest obstacle: Women in my age group were raised being told that you can do it all; the biggest obstacle is trying to juggle everything.
When no one is looking, you: Sleep. I don’t get a lot of it!

Turchin is a third-generation Miami Beach native and is already continuing the tradition of making the city a better place (her grandfather and father have both been instrumental in building hotels, restaurants, and homes in the area). While her day job is working as an art consultant for The Peter Tunney Experiment, she’s also been active in many charities ranging from the Children’s Home Society of Florida to the Chapman Partnership.

Music makes the world go ’round for Cadet-James. She’s the director of Friends of the New World Symphony, the young patrons group that promotes classical music to new generations, as well as chair of the board of the Overtown Music Project, which helps return song to the neighborhood that was once considered the “Harlem of the South” for its vibrant jazz scene. As if that didn’t keep her busy enough, the former lawyer also founded her own event planning company, Luxe Fête Event Planning and Design Studio, which specializes in spectacular weddings.

What makes you smile: Watching my husband and my two girls together.
Cause closest to your heart: Friends of the New World Symphony.
How important is it for you to be engaged in your community: I think when you’re successful, it’s not so much a reward but a responsibility to give back, especially through teaching.
