The Dutch Opens in Miami

An outpost of The Dutch, one of New York's best new restaurants, has opened in our neck of the woods.

November 15, 2011

Little oyster sandwiches on sesame brioche buns with pickled okra sauce

Our mouths have been watering ever since Andrew Carmellini first spoke to us in September about the impending arrival of his restaurant, The Dutch. So you can imagine our excitement when The Dutch (Miami) opened officially Monday night on South Beach. (The Dutch’s original NYC location recently won Eater NY’s Restaurant of the Year honors.) We’re thrilled that we now have our own outpost complete with dishes exclusive to Miami—The Biscayne seafood platter, patatas bravas, white Russian ice cream, dulce de leche donuts and the Bitter Sweet, Havana, and Perfect Storm cocktails—and breakfast and Bloody Marys served seven days a week. Grand Marnier Hosts Sips for Sups

The first annual Sips for Sups event benefited two worthy causes.

November 09, 2011

Theresa and Joe Cuomo and Trisha-Cancilla

Even the most well-established brands must reinvent themselves to connect with new and different audiences. This past weekend Grand Marnier—normally associated with stately gatherings in dark, regal bars—proved that the 150-year-old liquor company knows how to party and paddle board as it hosted its first annual Sips for Sups event at a bayfront villa in Miami Beach. Sips for Sups benefits the Surfrider Foundation and Miami Surf Archive Project, and guests were treated to a made-to-order taco bar, complimentary cocktails, and paddle board races all under a sun-kissed sky.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner at MOCA?

MOCA Mystery Dates makes for a memorable evening in support of the Museum of Contemporary Art.

November 08, 2011

Dinner at Edward Nieto's during the 2010 Mystery Dates

The Museum of Contemporary Art’s Mystery Dates—the annual fundraiser for the museum helmed by MOCA’s young patrons group, the MOCA Shakers—takes place November 12 and has accomplished what all great fundraising events aim to do: take on a life of its own and become a highlight on the city’s social calendar. The event’s concept is simple but intriguing. The night begins (as many an adventurous night does) with cocktails. Guests gather for drinks at the museum and then discover their next destination. Attendees then set off for dinners located in a variety of places including modern glass houses and beachfront villas. Dinner with new friends in a mesmerizing new place and a tour of the private art collection makes for a dazzling experience. The night’s scheduled events conclude with an afterparty at The Setai on South Beach. After a whirlwind of cocktails, dinner and art, even more delightfully mysterious happenings are sure to occur.
