There really is no better time in Miami than April. The sun seems a bit brighter, the beach is a bit quieter, but the stunning weather means there’s plenty to see and do. To me, it’s the time to savor our city’s diverse offerings—its food, its celebrations, its culture and people.

It’s fitting, then, that our cover features an equally dynamic force, actress Jordana Brewster. Raised around the world (Europe, South America, and the US), the Panamanian-born, Yale-educated star of the red-hot The Fast and the Furious film franchise (parts of which were shot here in Miami) personifies all that’s amazing about our city—cosmopolitan, beautiful, and damn fun.

So before summer reaches full swelter, I suggest you take advantage of all that’s on offer. Women, take note: Ocean Drive is partnering with the Loews Miami Beach Hotel for the fourth annual Girlfriends’ Getaway, April 25 to 28. Indulge in four full days of fashion, style, and fun. Get your om on, shop pop-up boutiques, polish up with makeovers and mini mani-pedis, and unwind with the latest cocktails from top mixologists.

If you haven’t taken a road trip to Wellington for Sunday brunch at the International Polo Club Palm Beach, this month is your last chance before the close of the 2013 Palm Beach Polo Season. If you’d rather stay put, then simply hit the beach for some horsing around—the world’s best players and polo ponies take to the sand at the Miami Beach Polo World Cup April 25 to 28 between 20th and 22nd Streets, behind the Setai hotel.

Finally, the sating continues when delicious food, wine, and drink samplings abound at the 18th annual Las Olas Wine and Food Festival on April 19, presented by Premier Beverage Company, among others. The event’s proceeds will benefit the American Lung Association’s initiatives.

So no fooling, there’s clearly plenty to enjoy this month. Look forward to seeing you around town….
