M by The Macallan is available in limited quantities for $4,500 per bottle.
Like Romeo and Juliet or Fred and Ginger, the union of a single malt scotch and a beautiful crystal decanter is a match made in heaven. To wit, The Macallan has joined forces with crystal maters Lalique to create an exquisite new whisky contained in its own handmade, mouth-blown crystal decanter.
Meet M by The Macallan, your favorite $4,500 scotch. In designing its collectible presentation box (a lacquered, hexagonally-shaped piano case) the project's creative director, Fabien Baron, was inspired by the spirit itself. Each of the case's six angular facets reflects one of The Macallan's six pillars. Meanwhile, Lalique’s crystal decanter references the iconic triangle of the Scottish whisky's label. Each decanter is engraved with its own individual number, and only 355 are on the market to date.
As for the single malt itself, pulled from The Macallan's Spanish oak sherry casks, M is one of the brand's richest and rarest whiskies ever. Its 25 plus flavor notes include port, chocolate, brown sugar, wood spices, raisin, and smoke. To say it's complex and intense is an understatement—just like a fine romance.
