For fixings, you can't do better than Brussels sprouts with pickled apples, onions, molasses, and vinaigrette.
The Federal Food Drink & Provisions has welcomed the return of its annual FederalQ. Every Thursday, the charming MiMo restaurant is rolling its pit onto the front deck for a barbecue lover's feast of St. Louis-style pork ribs, smoked cornish hens, barbecue-charred shrimp, and more.
Meats are accompanied by an equally satisfying selection of sides, including The Federal's signature sweet and tangy Brussels sprouts with pickled apples, onions, molasses, and vinaigrette. A grilled creamed corn plate with a hint of spicy Mexican cheeses and a refreshing chilled watermelon soaked in lime juice round out the rest of the fixings.
And of course, The Federal's regular menu stocks plenty of summer favorites, such as brisket, slow-cooked duck, and a juicy lamb burger. The restaurant's famous fried chicken, meanwhile, is served alongside a new drunken cherry dipping sauce. Save room for dessert, particularly the daily bread pudding special, which on a recent visit was made with Krispy Kreme donuts and bourbon caramel sauce.
