Meet a 1950s Pin-Up Legend
Bunny Yeager gives Miami a lesson in classic sex appeal at Books & Books.
October 22, 2012
Once a famous pin-up model and photographer, Bunny Yeager (still striking at 83) is popping into two Books & Books locations this week to discuss a new photographic memoir of her life’s work, Bunny Yeager's Darkroom (Rizzoli, $60). The book was written by cultural historian Petra Mason (burlesque beauty Dita Von Teese penned the forward) and comprises more than 200 photographs spanning Yeager’s impressive career—from signature self-portraits to pin-up shots of Bettie Page. In fact, Yeager is credited with helping to catapult Page’s career: she shot the infamous 1955 Playboy spread of Page in nothing but a Santa hat right here in Miami. Bunny also captured timeless photographs of model model Lisa Winters and Bond girl Ursula Andress. You can catch the midcentury legend and Miami resident this Wednesday, October 24 (7 p.m.) at Books & Books Coral Gables and Thursday, October 25 (6:30 p.m.) at Books & Books Bal Harbour Shops.
