Performers from The National YoungArts Foundation
The National YoungArts Foundation helps mentor, fund, and promote talented adolescents over multiple cultural disciplines, and starting today, more than 150 of the program's most accomplished artists will unveil their latest works and projects as part of YoungArts Week. Tonight brings voice and jazz performances at the New World Center (8 p.m.), while the rest of the week promises theatrical acts, cinematic screenings, art and photography exhibitions, and literary readings. YoungArts alumni, including celebrities like Nicki Minaj, Viola Davis, and Kerry Washington, are expected to join the students on stage. With talent like that, and the buzz from the organization’s purchase of the historic Bacardi complex, the weeklong event is not to be missed. All events are free and open to the public, though several require advance ticket reservations. YoungArts Week will culminate with a formal gala at the Alfred I. Dupont Building on Saturday, January 12 at 8:30 p.m. Check out the full YoungArts Week itinerary here.
