Suntory Whisky Pop-Up at The Regent

Sip superb Japanese whisky with hand-carved ice at the Gale's new speakeasy.

March 07, 2013

Single malt whisky fans are in for a special treat at The Regent Cocktail Club tonight as Japanese whisky brand Suntory and its brand ambassador, Gardner Dunn, swoop in for a one night only speakeasy, beginning at 7 p.m. Established in 1923, Suntory holds the distinction of being Japan's first and oldest malt whisky distillery. The Yamazaki Distillery, named after its location just outside the city of Kyoto, continues to be a premier global whisky producer, thanks to its damp mountain climate.

Tonight, Dunn will serve a selection of cocktails using Suntory’s full whisky portfolio, including its Yamazaki, Hibiki, and Hakushu varieties, all of which are award winning. Our preferred way of enjoying these fine whiskies is straight up with one of Dunn’s hand carved ice balls. In Japanese tradition, Dunn uses purified ice, which takes longer to melt. He uses a small, sharp knife (no ice pick needed) to whittle the ice into a perfect orb. Go for the show, stay for the whisky. 1690 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
