On the heels of DBC Fitness's two-year anniversary, David Alexander has much to celebrate, from training Dwyane Wade to changing the fitness game.
Dwyane Wade’s Instagram post asking, “Where do you train?” garnered 104,000 likes. “Everyone sees Instagram and wants to train a pro athlete, but [they don’t want] the details and responsibility that come with it,” says David Alexander, the force behind DBC Fitness, where Wade still works out during Miami visits. The biomechanics-driven facility is responsible for optimizing the performance of superstars like LeBron James and Reshad Jones.
“If they get hurt, all eyes are on you.” For Alexander, it’s not about social media buzz, but about making anyone who works out at DBC (short for Dumbbells, Barbells, and Cables) a “better-functioning human being.” DBC’s dozen trainers start with a full musculoskeletal assessment that measures every bone in a client’s body. “Most bodies aren’t in alignment,” explains Alexander, who majored in kinesiology. To fix that, DBC’s six phases of training tackle correcting functions, strengthening, and powering general motor skills.
Recovery is just as important, and at DBC that includes NormaTec Boots to massage your limbs with compressed air, mobilize fluid, and speed recovery through blood flow, as well as the latest cool trend, cryotherapy, where the whole body is submerged in a vapor form of liquid nitrogen at -200 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s worthy of an Instagram post—just don’t expect to get 104k likes. 3841 NE Second Ave., #103, Miami, 786-452-8964
