New Eateries with Staying Power
By Victoria Pesce Elliott
Although “proven success elsewhere” is by no means a guarantee, there are plenty of contenders coming to town, including Koi, the celebritymagnet sushi bar from Los Angeles at Gansevoort Miami Beach; Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s J&G Grill at the luxe St. Regis Resort in Bal Harbour; Katsuya and José Andrés’s The Bazaar at the SLS Hotel South Beach; and even a version of the fancy New York ice cream shop Serendipity 3, where sundaes are decorated with edible 24k gold leaf. Players south of Fifth Street include the Mexico City-based Gloutonnerie, and Milos Estiatorio, the decadent Greek import from Athens with a location in Montreal, that will fill a void for fresh local seafood in the area.
