Creator of some of the most sought-after home furnishings of the past half-century, Donghia continues to take a classic yet innovative approach to design.
The standout piece in Donghia’s new lighting and furniture collection may be the Druzy lamp, whose base is cut from handmade Venetian clear glass blocks stacked in a mineral-like formation.
For nearly 50 years, many of the biggest names in style, including Grace Mirabella, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue, have coveted Donghia home furnishings for their understated elegance. The brand’s founder, the late interior designer Angelo Donghia, once said, “Some people think of me as Art Deco, but it’s more ’20s and ’30s—clean, simple, and pure.”
That aesthetic is alive and well in the brand’s new lighting and furniture collection. In sofas, club chairs, bar stools, credenzas, and more—all inspired by precious jewels and their settings—as well as in decorative Murano glass, Donghia’s designers continue to uphold the company motto: “Live a well-tailored life.” One striking piece is the Bezel cocktail table, with a base covered in either gray zebrano veneer or “grigio pelle lago” leather and a top of shimmering bronze or clear glass and white limestone.
Donghia considers the Magic City one of its most important markets, according to Laura Steele, its marketing director. Miami is “an incredibly fascinating and international market,” she says, “inhabited by those who appreciate exquisite interior design, furnishings, and a well-appointed lifestyle.” Design Center of the Americas, 1855 Griffin Road, Ste.
