Merrick Manor, the first luxury condo development in Coral Gables in more than five years, is scheduled to begin construction in August. The developer, The Astor Companies, hopes to mesh this $80 million, 10-story, 174-unit mid-rise with the city’s historic elegance. Units range from one to three bedrooms, with interior common-area designs by Michael Wolk, who has worked with Trump International Beach Resort, among others. Amenities will include a sky terrace pool, views of the Biltmore Hotel, and marble flooring. The building’s ground level will house retail and restaurants. Oscar-winning actor Matt Damon is selling his Miami Beach mansion for $20 million. Damon bought a 43,000-square-foot double lot on North Bay Road in 2005 for a combined $14.5 million, where he built a seven-bedroom, 9.5-bathroom Mediterranean-style mansion that features a home theater, private terrace, a two-bedroom guesthouse, and unobstructed waterfront views of Biscayne Bay. “This is a rare jewel in the heart of Miami Beach, in an incredible setting for anyone lucky enough to enjoy the fabulous lifestyle this address provides,” says Jill Hertzberg, of brokerage duo The Jills. Eco-consciousness and chicness are not antithetical: Le Parc at Brickell, a new 12-story, 128-unit luxury boutique condo, will boast electric car-charging stations, energy-efficient appliances, and insulated UV-blocking windows. The project is a joint venture between Axa Developers and Strategic Properties Group. Units will range from one to three bedrooms, and nine exclusive two-story townhomes ranging from 576 to 1,968 square feet in size will also be available. Interiors will feature furniture imported from Lyon, France, and up to 11-foot-high ceilings. “Its unique location offers residents the convenience of a ‘big city’ lifestyle along with the serenity that comes with living near historic Simpson Park,” says Lisbeth Arellano, sales and marketing director on behalf of Axa Developers and Strategic Properties Group. The building’s amenities have garnered it a LEED certification, given to environmentally sustainable “green” edifices. Pre-construction prices for units range from the low $200s to more than $600,000. The developers are scheduled to break ground in October, with completion slated for December 2014.
