Hands down, April is my favorite time of year in Miami. The weather is finding a sweet spot before the onslaught of summer, the madness of the season is dissipating, but there’s still energy in town and more than enough amazing events.
I suggest you get it while the getting’s good: There are only a few weekends left to enjoy field-side Sunday brunch and the spectacle of thundering hooves and grand hats at the International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington. It really is a wonderful tradition. The season ends April 22, so giddyup.
Ocean Drive is partnering with the Loews Miami Beach Hotel for its third annual Girlfriends’ Getaway, April 20 to 22. It’s a full weekend dedicated to fashion, style, and fun for the fairer sex, with offerings such as Fly Barre fitness classes from New York’s Flywheel Sports, pop-up boutiques from Trina Turk and Citrine by the Stones, makeovers, mini mani-pedis, blowouts by Keratin Complex, and beverages by Bacardi. Obviously it’s great for women, but if a guy “accidentally” stumbles in, odds will certainly be in his favor.
The Miami Art Museum is also doing something really interesting this month. April 5 kicks off its three-part panel series, “Miami Vinyl: The History of Record-Making in Miami,” which explores the culture of vinyl records within the history of contemporary art. The panel series is part of the exhibition The Record: Contemporary Art and Vinyl, organized by the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University.
And finally, we’re partnering with Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour to welcome Rag & Bone designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville to the Soho Beach House for an exclusive fashion show, buttressed by plenty of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Did I say the season was slowing down?
Look forward to seeing you around town…
