When you live in Miami for a few years, you make friends from all over the world—especially Latin America. I love that whether I go anywhere from Belize to Argentina, there’s always some one who insists on helping me plan where to go and what to see in their home country. I guess it’s just the Latin way. I’m obsessed with the culture’s warmth, generosity and style, which is why I’m never leaving the 305; if anything, I’d head south.
This month’s issue celebrates a huge chunk of Miami’s expat society. Our cover star, the beautiful Spanish actress and model Elsa Pataky, is a big fan of the city and hosts our party at The Collection on April 7. And inside, we introduce you to this year’s crop of magnetic “It Girls” (all striking Latinas with enviable pedigrees to match).
It was so much fun watching Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Miami, starring women whose names we’ve been boldfacing in columns and captioning in “Shot on Site” photos for years. I don’t know about you, but after so much Pinot Grigio, Lake Havasu and chandelier earrings (RHONY, RHOOC and RHOBH), I was itching for some mojitos, the Atlantic and oversize gold hoops—all of which the RHOM version delivers in spades. The show’s premiere party here at the Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach was some of the most fun I’ve had so far this year... besides the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival, Ocean Drive’s 18th anniversary party hosted by Enrique Iglesias, and real estate developer Ugo Colombo’s truly incredible birthday bash. What can I say? Miami’s had an amazing season, and it’s not over yet.
