If you’re reading this issue in Miami on any given day in December, there’s no doubt the weather is spectacular. You’re probably sitting under an umbrella on the sand, texting friends about which Art Basel Miami Beach events you’ll go to together. (For ideas, read Haley Lieberman Binn and Eric Newill’s comprehensive ABMB wrap-up, which details whom to know, where to go and what to see this year.)
I love star photographer Roger Moenks’ showcase of bold, graphic resort fashion shot in über-gallerist Fredric Snitzer’s Wynwood space. The juxtaposition of the architectural clothes against the backdrops of stunning modern artwork is an inspirational blend of culture and fashion. And how beautiful does Brooklyn Decker look on the cover in this sumptuous pink shawl from Chanel’s 2011 Cruise collection? Though the show took place in St-Tropez this year (read fashion editor Laurie Brookins’ account), if this piece is any indication, Karl Lagerfeld may as well have had Miami and Palm Beach on the brain.
Maybe you’re flipping through our pages to choose a restaurant or club to hit after dinner. If you can swing it (i.e., you or someone you know is a member), Soho Beach House is the place to be this season, day or night. The good news: Delicious on-site restaurant Cecconi’s is relatively equal-opportunity, open to anyone lucky or connected enough to land a reservation. Read “Up Late” columnist Dirk DeSouza’s piece “Private Lives” and see why this is one club you’ll want to join if it would have you as a member.
