Only in Miami would February signal the return of our annual Swimsuit Issue, an Ocean Drive favorite since the magazine’s inception. This year, photographer Billy Coleman and stylist Giuseppe Pizzuto have created a sultry spread featuring the season’s hottest new styles. Meanwhile, contributing editor Jose Ortiz identified the sexiest models of the moment, who sat for a series of portraits with star shooter Navid. And cover vixen Amber Valletta also spices up the month with an extraordinary portfolio by Yu Tsai, as well as a candid interview with writer Laurie Brookins.
Of course, our town is about more than just sun-kissed sirens. This month, iconic book purveyor Taschen unveils its new store on Lincoln Road and contributing editor Brett Sokol speaks with German visionary Benedikt Taschen and discovers how the company continues to delight fans worldwide. And it would not be too much of a stretch to hazard that Taschen would not even be here were it not for the arrival of Art Basel Miami Beach in 2002. We provide a comprehensive visual wrap-up of last December’s event with eight pages of photos by Seth Browarnik and an overview by Suzy Buckley.
Also, don’t miss a chat with Palm Beach hotel scion Bobby Schlesinger, whose Omphoy is the toast of the Gilded Isle; a look at the new Maison Martin Margiela boutique; and a nod to this month’s South Beach Wine & Food Festival with celebrated chefs Bobby Flay (who gets personal with Stephanie Sayfie Aagaard) and Rocco DiSpirito, who reveals his favorite Miami dish in “In Writing.”
