In a city where the temperature is almost always 70 degrees or warmer, spring fashion
is big business—and big fun. Miamians appreciate furs and boots as much as anyone,
but most of us find ourselves wearing pieces from the spring/summer collections a good nine months out of the year. I love photographer Chiun-Kai Shih’s “Gimme Shelter,” shot so glamorously (and exclusively—they almost never allow cameras) at the hottest ticket in town, the Soho Beach House. All the bright, fanciful prints and oversize sunglasses make me want to lunch in the courtyard there at Cecconi’s in a billowing maxi dress, and maybe even get a tan.
March is a great time to renew and invigorate, which is why we chose gorgeous cover star Elle Liberachi, one of the most phenomenal fresh faces (and insane bodies) we’ve come across in a long time. And be sure to check out photographer Seth Browarnik’s new photo documentary, “Unfiltered,” featuring personal anecdotes from his late nights out.
The Winter Music Conference has coincided with Ultra Music Festival for years—but not this time around. In “The Magic City,” arts editor Brett Sokol explains the issues that led WMC and Ultra to begin holding their electronic-music celebrations on separate weekends. This shouldn’t put too much of a blip in your plans, though, as there are plenty of new things to see and do this time of year. Our March issue is absolutely drizzled with tips (from everyone from Miami Heat star Chris Bosh to local blogging sensation The Burger Beast) on how to squeeze the most fun out of your springtime in Miami, and look good doing it.
