Summer is fast approaching, but that hardly means that Miami is slowing down. Many of us locals know it’s a time to catch up—get some overdue R&R from the last few months, spend time with friends, and maybe make some progress on an old project. Looks like we aren’t the only ones; multiple plans for new developments are stirring, and some are already becoming reality.

This is our annual Health and Beauty Issue, and we have ample doses of both. For the cover, we couldn’t be more excited to team up with Magic City star Olga Kurylenko, and don’t miss our inspiring feature on Miami’s very own Real Beauties of every age.

Our city is becoming more beautiful, too, as the iconic mid-century mass of The Miami Herald headquarters will be demolished to make way for the Genting Group’s luxury hotel, condo, and baywalk development; and the new Port of Miami tunnel is well under way, improving traffic for us in all directions, making it that much easier to enjoy a host of sure-to-be new hot spots.

I can’t wait to see how the ultra-luxury Brickell CityCentre project comes along, and instant classic SLS Hotel South Beach has announced plans for the SLS Brickell. Mid-Beach will receive an energizing infusion of South American flair when the new Faena House—a development of luxury residences, hotel, and retail space modeled after the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Puerto Madero—revamps the old Saxony Hotel and the areas around it. Additionally, Ian Schrager’s The Miami Beach Edition hotel/condo, at the site of the old Seville Hotel, will offer limited-edition residences, seductive outdoor rooms, veritable “homes in the sky,” and reportedly an ice-skating rink by the beginning of the new year.

So while summer may seem a bit quieter, it’s no time to slow down.

See you around town....
