In most parts of the country, November is a time where Americans start their hibernation routine. The sweaters and the heavy coats come out, the fireplaces are burning, and people get ready for a long winter. But in Miami, we’re just getting warmed up. And that couldn’t be any more evident than with our sizzling cover star Nina Agdal, showcasing the hottest in resort wear trends. Of course Agdal, now a New Yorker, will have to deal with that cold weather. We won’t. Agdal, who lived in Miami for several years, tells Ocean Drive, “I still consider Miami my American home.” I suspect we’ll see her back soon!
November is also a time in Ocean Drive where we focus on food. This month, we’re profiling some of our favorite new dishes in town, from Catch’s Cantonese lobster to Haven’s duck quail burger and more. But don’t take my word for it—we’ve got Miami’s most esteemed foodies vouching for their favorite new eateries. Who better to chew the fat with, so to speak, on the taste and flavor of Miami than those whose job it is to cover that scene for a living? Speaking of food, I love watching the influx of so many new restaurants coming to town. As a New York transplant, I must say I’m eagerly awaiting the opening of Lure Fishbar at the Loews in South Beach this winter, a place of many power lunches for me.
From our favorite spas to the latest trends in real estate, and even a trip to the Barbie Dreamhouse (you have to see it to believe it), this month’s Ocean Drive has a little something for everyone.
It’s hard to believe that Art Basel will already be upon us so soon; it seems like the crowds have been here for months anyway. I can’t blame them—with the Heat getting ready to chase another championship, world-class restaurants opening and thriving, and more and more hotels and condos reaching toward our blue skies, at the risk of sounding redundant, it’s a great time to be in Miami!
