Dr. Julio Gallo: the face
Expertise: Founder of The Miami Institute located within the Four
Seasons Hotel on Brickell, Dr. Julio Gallo specializes in rejuvenating
the face with a combination of classic face-lift surgery and cuttingedge
Beauty philosophy: “The scalpel is the ultimate tool, but not the only
one,” says Gallo, who does a full analysis, including metabolic and
hormone-level testing, before embarking on an age-defying program.
“Thyroid issues can create wrinkling of the skin, so that would be addressed
with supplementation,” he notes.
Technique: “I prefer to use multiple modalities when performing facial plastic
surgeries because it provides a more natural result and a faster recovery,” Gallo
says. “Cellular therapies such as stem cells harvested from a patient’s fat and
rich plasma (PRP) from the patient’s blood provide additional support to the
body’s healing. Other products such as Laviv, [a filler cultured] from a patient’s fibroblasts,
fill lines and improve the overall complexion of the skin. As a final touch, I use
different lasers to resurface the skin, remove stains and blemishes, and reduce fine lines.”
Education: Gallo graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He is
board-certified in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, with almost 20 years of experience. He still
teaches and assists at the university.
On the horizon: Gallo utilizes intravenous infusions of high-dose vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to help the
body recover more rapidly after surgery, and he sees more use of the patient’s own body in future facial antiaging.
“Biotech firms will be able to engineer tissue from a patient’s genes, making a piece of bone or skin. We will be able to naturally
re-create a youthful face with an individual’s DNA map.”
