Rachel Zoe on Miami Style
BY LAURIE BROOKINS
She’s worked with A-list starlets, infl uenced designers, even
spawned a catchphrase (in many a fashionista’s mind, “I die” is the
ultimate compliment). So is there anything Rachel Zoe can’t do?
Apparently not, judging from the Twitter talk leading up to last month’sthird-season premiere of the celeb stylist’s Bravo reality show, The Rachel Zoe Project. Adding fuel to the frenzy was the announcement just weeks earlier that Zoe will launch a collection of clothing and accessories in fall 2011. “My ultimate dream scenario was to be on the design side,” she told Women’s Wear Daily. No doubt Zoe fans will be breathless—make that dying—with anticipation.
What's the single worst trend you've seen over the past few years?
I would have to say exaggerated hips! It adds volume to an area where most women do not want it - so difficult to pull off in "real life." This look is great for editorials and on runway.
How would you describe "Miami style"?
Miami style is uber-sexy glamour. Subtleties don't translate in the Miami culture. They just go for it which I totally love.
What's your favorite vacation destination?
Definitely St. Barts! I go there at least once a year and always at XMas/New Years. It's the only time of year that my industry shuts down so I can fully relax. It's heaven.
Which boutique won't you enter unless you're in the mood to really spend?
Didier Ludot vintage in Paris. He has the most amazing and unique treasures from every major designers over the last several decades. Hermes, YSL, Dior, Lanvin, Balenciaga.
What items in your closet are you most proud of?
I would have to say my collection of Hermes Birkin bags. Each one represents a special moment in my life. My first was a gift from Rodger with rose petals leading to the big orange box!
