Roma Cohen Mixes Rugged Urban Style and Casual Miami Cool
by Benjamin liong setiawan
Casual gear: Rick Owens T-shirts and skinny jeans
Footwear: Visvim, from Japan Chrome Hearts jewelry
Style rule: I’m not big on rules. I often just wear a black T-shirt with black jeans—you can never go wrong with classic simplicity.
Haircut: House call with Kevin Michael on Lenox, by appointment only
Hair-clean: Kérastase Bain Après-Soleil shampoo
Culture: New York’s MoMA, and I’m really looking forward to the Herzog & de Meurondesigned Miami Art Museum.
Lunch: Garcia’s—I love to pick up the mahi-mahi sandwich and eat it outside on the river.
Beverage: Dirty martini
Gadget: iPad, of course
Wheels: Porsche Carrera
Sounds: Joakim, Kitsuné and Beach House, and I’m really into the Parisian electro thing right
Venue: The Fillmore
What do you love about Miami? I love that it’s become such a melting pot, and appreciate the “growingup stage” it’s undergone over the past few years. Our city is now on the cutting edge of art, design, architecture and fashion.
Favorites: Mr Chow, Athens Juice Bar, Enriqueta’s—and a malted-vanilla shake [seen at right] from Shake Shack at 1111!
Perfect day: Rise and drive to Alchemist, then go to the little bodega downstairs and have a cortadito. Do a little work around the store and go back for more Cuban coffee, then maybe get a fresh tuna-salad sandwich at Epicure. Later, I’ll go straight to the beach at Canyon Ranch and have a watermelon-mint lemonade and artichoke fries, well done. Around 4, I’ll hit up the spa’s Herbal Laconium and go from the steam room to the igloo for a little hot-and-cold action. To end the day, I’ll head to The Standard for sliders with a side of sliced avocado.
