After an estimated $130 million renovation that began in 2011, The James Royal Palm Hotel gave industry insiders a sneak peak at its new design on November 15. Built in 1939 by Russian developers Joe Rose and Nat Hankoff, the South Beach haunt is one of the original markers of the Art Deco era. The opening night party included the unveiling of The James Royal Palm signage, a Champagne toast and cocktail hour, and walking tours. The hotel is also home to Kris Wessel's soon-to-be opened restaurant, Florida Cookery, as well as myriad upcoming Art Basel events, like the Renew Lounge (an escape for daily treats and bites), the new UNTITLED art fair afterparty, and private dinners.1545 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 305-604-5700
