Hand-Painted Pumps by Charlotte Olympia
December 04, 2012 | Homepage
Charlotte Olympia is known to send the hearts of shoe addicts aflutter. Even trendsetters like Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parker can’t resist the British designer’s famed gold platform pumps (aka the Dolly). In celebration of Art Basel, designer Charlotte Olympia Dellal has created a limited-edition collection of hand-painted Dolly heels ($1,695 each) to be sold exclusively at Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour, starting today. Each design is inspired by 20th century artists such as Jackson Pollock, Peit Mondrian, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, and Howard Hodgkin. With just 100 signature pairs in the collection, Olympia turned to artist Boyarde, known for her photographs of painted bodies, to hand-paint each shoe. The finished products were unveiled today at Neiman Marcus’ shoe salon—with Olympia herself on hand to help celebrate. 9700 Collins Ave., Bal Harbour
