Florida is no stranger to the devastation of a powerful storm, and The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival is doing its part to assist New York as it recovers from the damage of Superstorm Sandy. The festival has added a Sandy relief event, Diamond Dishes: A League of Their Own (February 23, 2013), with some the nation's top female chefs cooking up a special dinner at Marlins Park to benefit the Mayor's Fund for NYC Hurricane Relief and the Food Bank For New York City.
James Beard award-winner and Miami native Michelle Bernstein will headline the event, and Diamond Dishes author Julia Loria (wife of Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria) will act as host. Guests of the ballpark banquet will round the bases to sample each chef’s creation. The full roster of chefs includes Bernstein, Chicago’s Stephanie Izard (Girl and the Goat), New York’s April Bloomfield (The Spotted Pig), and Portland’s Naomi Pomeroy (BEAST). A cocktail reception at The Clevelander, wine pairings, a silent auction, and dugout dessert buffet are also included in the event’s festivities. Tickets are $250 per person and are currently available online.
We're behind the scenes with Marlins outfielder, who now has the largest contract in sports history.
