This Indian-born, Tampa-bred comedian was well versed in the wackier side of Americana—he worked as a performer at Disney-MGM Studios—long before he became a regular correspondent alongside Jon Stewart on The Daily Show. His knack for politically charged humor is helping combat anti-Muslim prejudice and making fans of the unlikeliest of audiences. His new movie, Today’s Special—which he also co-wrote—continues that pattern, shining a lovingly hysterical light on his own family.
