Miller's in Miami

It’s an actor’s dream come true to be brought on as a guest star and then cast as a series regular. For Omar Miller, who plays the new version of character Walter Simmons on CBS’s CSI: Miami, it’s a role that lets him moonlight as a theft specialist and get a steady paycheck, to boot. Move over, Eddie Cibrian.
OCEAN DRIVE: How’s the new show treating you?
OMAR MILLER: It’s an adventure. Anybody familiar with the show knows CSI: Miami is its own world—and that takes some getting used to. Thankfully, the audience has genuinely embraced my character and helped make my transition into the world of Crime Scene Investigation very smooth.
You play Walter Simmons, the resident jack-of-all-trades. Are you similar to him in real life?
We’re both good-looking and faux know-it-alls who like to be right.
Good-looking gets you far in Miami.
Yeah, I’m always lurking around the South Beach GNC giving workout advice.
What’s the best part about being on the show?
Knowing there’s a check in the mail for doing something I love. I feel like I’m part of the chosen few who find that sort of peace on this earth.
You’re not done yet, are you?
Next up is to trick another studio into paying me to make another fun film in an exotic location during the spring. I’m thinking something like the first black James Bond.
I think you’re on to something. In the meantime, you’ve got Blood Done Sign My Name, right?
BDSMN is a film that allowed me to don porkchop sideburns and tight cords. For that, everyone should flock to see it.
