For the first time since its 1970s release, Roche Bobois' iconic Mah Jong takes a trip outdoors.
Then painter-sculptor designer Hans Hopfer designed the Mah Jong modular sofa for Roche Bobois in 1971, it was revolutionary. The first-of-its-kind furniture piece allowed for total freedom of function and form, but its versatility stopped at the front door. This season, after 48 years, the Mah Jong gets some fresh air. Ready to weather the elements, the debut outdoor edition of the iconic sectional sits on a metal base lacquered with anticorrosion coating, and its plush cushions are upholstered in all-weather outdoor fabrics from MissoniHome.
Furthering the endless modular combinations that made the original such a success, the new outdoor version features movable tray tables for holding glasses, towels or sunscreen. Sometimes, it’s nice to get out of the house!
The Mah Jong outdoor modular sofa (price upon request) by Hans Hopfer for Roche Bobois is perfect poolside in vibrant all-weather MissoniHome fabrics. Contemporains & Nouveaux Classiques, 3454 Biscayne Blvd, 786.655.4747, roche-bobois.com
