Brothers Tal and Oren Alexander, who founded Douglas Elliman’s Alexander Team, broker some of the area’s most coveted properties. But when it comes to their own homes, Oren chose Miami, and Tal lives in New York City for most of the year. Here, they offer an inside look at both of their distinct, beautiful homes.

Park Avenue, New York City
What do you love about this home? Some of the best views in New York City. It offers a sense of peace and serenity from intense city days.
What kind of atmosphere were you going for? A soft feel with a sense of floating in the clouds. I didn’t want anything shiny or metallic to compete with the existing skyline and views, so the palette was kept neutral.
Do you have a favorite on-the-market home? There’s one particular property, currently off-market and something we cannot publicly discuss yet. Hint: 8 acres of prime oceanfront in the Hamptons, with a nine-figure sale price.
What do you like about living in New York? NYC cultivates some of the best talent in the world. It’s truly incredible that everyone comes to NYC from all over the world with the same idea of wanting to make something of themselves.
“The 10-by-10 windows combined with an expansive wall create an incredible display for art pieces with the city as the backdrop,” Tal says.
His top concerns when choosing a home are privacy, security, lifestyle, amenities, location, architecture, design and neighbors.
Flamingo Drive, Miami Beach
What do you love about this home? Everything—it allows me to create intimate moments when I’m at home with my family or to transform the space for a dinner like Tal and I did for our clients and friends during Art Basel this past winter.
Favorite features or items in the home? The great room features expansive, automated sliding glass doors—there’s a seamless transition from indoors to outdoors. I added a giant floating fireplace in this room, and we find plenty of nights to sit by the fire and enjoy the cool breeze coming in.
What are the main things you look for when buying a home? The livability factor. My mornings are spent in my gym, which overlooks the water—both a few steps from my ice bath. Then I warm up in my Jacuzzi.
What do you like about living in Miami? Living on the water, having a boat at the house and the ability to go to the Bahamas in one hour.
Oren was inspired by Addison Mizner and Maurice Fatio.
At Oren’s Miami home, the walls are adorned with oak, stones and Venetian plaster.
“I worked alongside Denio Madera, a dear friend of mine, to design the interiors,” Oren says. “He really understands how I live and how I like to host, and helped us to source a lot of design and vintage pieces that make up the collection at the property."
