As envisioned by Gucci's Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, this collection has captivated both sportswear and luxury shoppers. This summer, it will be available in pop-in format in Miami's very own Aventura Mall.
Michele imagined a series of images inspired by archival catalogs. A cast of characters strikes dynamic poses against brightly colored backdrops alongside sporty props, captured by photographer Carlijn Jacobs, to present the selection.
The initiative aims to connect and engage with clients worldwide and their surrounding communities by displaying the products in an immersive, dedicated environment reflecting Gucci's unconventional luxury fashion approach. Besides Gucci x adidas pop-ups, Gucci will also open dedicated pop-in locations in New York Wooster Street and Fifth Avenue, Gucci East Hampton, Miami's Aventura Mall, Chicago Michigan Avenue, Houston Galleria, Atlanta Lenox, and Holt Renfrew Toronto Yorkdale.
Adidas x Gucci combines the Italian house's emblems with those of the iconic sportswear brand. The collection, teased in the first adidas x Gucci lookbook, expands on the sartorial streetwear creations that debuted on the runway with a range of sport-inspired pieces distinguished by the same retro aesthetics as the show. A fixation on stripes plays out across ready-to-wear and accessories, including Gucci's own take on the famous adidas Gazelle sneaker, with the heritage of both brands encoded in a trio of lines.
The white Three Stripes of adidas appear on one leg, while Gucci's red and green Web seems on the other. Vibrant prints show how motifs such as the adidas Trefoil and GG monogram combine to amplify two legacies. Leather heels, suede loafers, and silk scarves, which are traditionally formal, enter hybridized territory as they are marked with casual codes. Retro aesthetics, similarly, become intrinsically contemporary by proclaiming that there are no rules when it comes to dressing up.
The ready-to-wear collection harkens back to retro sportswear silhouettes. From shirts to pants, many pieces play a game of contrasts between adidas' white Three Stripes and Gucci's red and green Web. One side features the adidas signature, and the other features the House's well-known emblem. The tracksuit, a key theme throughout the collection, is reimagined in various ways, including shorts and jogger pants for women and flared pants and a bowling shirt for men, all of which are designed to be mixed and matched. Tennis-inspired polos, sweater vests, skirts, and a knit dress add a more refined tone to the collection, while colorful and energetic prints with the adidas Trefoil and Interlocking G are seen in a variety of styles. The adidas Trefoil is highlighted with "Gucci" lettering on graphic cotton T-shirts.
In addition, the collection includes two new items: a selection of golf bags in either leather or the GG monogram with the adidas x Gucci logo, as well as colorful umbrellas with the collection's distinct palette and patterns.
The collection features multiple pieces crafted with future-conscious material fabrics such as polyester, cotton, and viscose, reflecting a shared commitment to innovation, progress, sustainability goals, and collective action.
