As one of the original Real Housewives of Miami, Alexia Echevarria is no stranger to the camera. After filming three seasons from 2011 to 2013, the franchise halted and to the community’s long-awaited surprise, returned back in December 2021.
All of the women’s lives have changed immensely since 2013 including Echevarria, from new husbands, businesses, the enhancement of social media and the dramatic shift of life in Miami. Echevarria is grateful for the journey with the Real Housewives of Miami and the fact she is back eight years later. She expressed, "We're making history, pretty much. I don't think any other franchise in any other city has been asked back after an eight-year hiatus and people seem to be loving it. I'm very happy and excited about that, it's a big deal. I'm really happy to have been part of it since the beginning, season one.”
Echevarria is unauthentically herself on and off the screen, and she is proud of the immense growth she has had personally and psychologically since season one.

Season four has a few original cast members including Lisa Hochstein and Larsa Pippen, alongside newcomers Guerdy Abraira, Julia Lemigova and Dr. Nicole Martin. Echevarria had known a few of the women from various events in Miami, in fact, Abraira was hired by Echevarria as a party planner for her recent wedding to Todd Nepola. “I feel like I had a head start, whereas the other women didn't really know the new girls, but I kind of knew the girls,” she continued, “I welcome everybody, so it wasn't difficult for me to actually get to know them.”
But there is no doubt that she has an unmatched bond with some of the original members. “It's been many years, it's been many special moments, it's been good times, it's been bad times, it's been years,” Echevarria explained, “We all earned that, so it's been many years that we've worked on that, and you can see it on camera, we do have a friendship and a relationship.”
Over the years, Echevarria has had to develop a life both on and off the camera. Through trial and error, she has learned her boundaries on how to separate her personal life and her filming life, but she is unapologetically herself while filming. “It's been very hard this season because obviously, Todd is new at this. It's hard to separate goals because the show really documents my life. My life doesn't revolve around the show, the show revolves around my life,” Echevarria mentioned.
From her work life, family, friends and filming, Echevarria has learned to juggle all of the different elements, with hopes her true character shines far beyond the television screen. With fans all across the nation, many look up to Echevarria as a Cuban woman, entrepreneur and mother among other things, she hopes to inspire them to never give up, especially on themselves. “Don't be afraid to believe in yourself. With hard work, putting in the time and the effort, everyone will succeed. You can have a bad day, but the next day will be better, but really never give up on your hopes or dreams,” she whole-hardly stated.
As an original member of the Real Housewives of Miami, Echevarria has seen the evolution of herself and Miami first hand, and she is so excited about the future of the show.
