The Michael Schwartz-hosted chef series, Amara & Friends, returns at the end of May for its second installment, bringing with it an exciting culinary lineup that spotlights a new chef of differing origin each month. Guests will explore the cuisine of a varying Latin country at the courtesy of each rotating chef, watching along as the food is prepared over wood-fired grills on the patio.
In partnership with community leader Marvin Tapia, Chef Schwartz plans to welcome an all-star chef lineup, including: Executive Chef/Owner and Partner of Ariete Hospitality Group Michael Beltran (who will kick off the series), Executive Chef of La Mar by Gastón Acurio Diego Oka, Executive Chef/Owner of Zitz Sum Pablo Zitzmann, five-time James Beard semifinalist and renowned restaurateur Jose Mendin and Executive Chef/Owner of Tacotomia Chef Karla Hoyos.
Each dinner begins during prime sunset viewing time at 6:30 p.m., at which point guests are encouraged to take in the scenic backdrop while enjoying passed hors d’oeuvres and a welcome tropical-themed cocktail featuring Brugal Rum. A Latin inspired four-course menu will come to life following cocktail hour, displayed directly before guests as chefs prepare and plate dishes from the open-kitchen setting.
Diego Oka’s dinner varies slightly from the rest—the experience is themed as a Brugal Maestro Dinner featuring curated rum pairings by Brugal brand ambassador, author and FIU hospitality professor Gabe Urrutia. The other chef’s dinners will incorporate an eclectic selection of South American wines by Brazos Wine.
A percentage of the proceeds of each dinner will go toward the Miami-based non-profit organization, Viernes Culturales, which aims to preserve the history and culture of Little Havana.
Amara & Friends is priced at $175 per person. To secure a spot at the table, book your reservation here.
