The holidays are all about giving back and The Angel Watching Over Me Foundation is doing just that.

The organization has officially announced its in-person fundraising gala for this year. This annual event and the amazing organization focus on the importance of giving families in the local community a Thanksgiving meal.

All ticket proceeds from this year’s event will feed over 400 families in Miami. Every year the gala has a theme in which guests are welcome to dress the part. This year’s theme is “WORLD - For The People,” where guests are encouraged to dress in the world that best represents who they are or who they aspire to be.

AWOM was founded in 2013 by Sarah Akiba. She founded the non-profit organization to honor her father, who she lost to lung cancer.

“The AWOM Gala represents everything that the foundation stands for - bringing the community together to have fun and celebrate life, but making an impact while doing so,” explained Akiba.

This year the AWOM Foundation Gala is on November 20, 2021 at 8 p.m., at the Nimu Lounge. Tickets are currently available to purchase, which include open bar, cuisine, silent auction, all-night entertainment, special guests and of course, giving back to the local community.

“After a year of solidarity I am beyond thrilled that we can host this special event again this year and bring the community back together,” said Akiba.

In addition to the annual gala which helps feed our community, the AWOM Foundation acts as a support system to individuals in the community who have lost loved ones, as well as the AWOM Girls Club which is a weekly after-school program that helps empower young girls to become leaders. During Halloween time, the AWOM hosts a yearly Halloween Party at Joe Dimaggio Hospital, which gives children at the hospital the opportunity to celebrate Halloween.
