A veteran of Wynwood’s culinary scene dating back to Alter, Chef Brad Kilgore has joined forces with the iconic Bar Lab duo, Elad Zvi and Gabe Orta, to pioneer the food and beverage program at Arlo Wynwood, the first hotel to reside in the neighborhood known for its burgeoning arts and tech scene.
A household name to most Miamians, Bar Lab is the genius behind boho-tropical Broken Shaker and all of its mixed drinks fame, which proceeded to open in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. Arlo’s still unnamed signature restaurant, rooftop deck, and third-floor cocktail lounge will see the collaboration in action, as soon as the hotel unveils in fall 2022.
"We envisioned the food and beverage program at Arlo Wynwood to be as dynamic as the neighborhood itself, and representative of the best Miami has to offer," said Arlo Hotels and Quadrum Global founder Oleg Pavlov in a press release.
Kilgore, Zvi, and Orta are destined to set the neighborhood ablaze with their critically-acclaimed careers in the hospitality industry. Chef Kilgore is no stranger to accolades, having been a James Beard finalist, an alumnus of Food & Wine’s “Best New Chefs in America,” and a two-time recipient of The Miami Herald’s 4-Star review. Now he holds the title of Culinary Director at private, members-only The Concours Club, where his restaurant Verge produces exotic masterpieces for luxury car owners. Combine Kilgore’s expertise in the kitchen with Zvi and Orta’s mixology prowess—as seen in James Beard finalist Broken Shaker and additional concepts Hoja Taqueria and Margot—and you have a winning team.
Designed by award-winning firm Meyer Davis, the Arlo Hotel’s physical property will draw on the unique aesthetic found in Miami’s arts district, in alignment with the creative food and beverage partnership. Community and connection are at the forefront of the Arlo brand, and the Arlo Wynwood’s inviting living room, lounge areas, rooftop pool deck, entertainment lineup, and wellness programming were concepted with this in mind.
The nine-story, 217-room hotel will also feature artwork as a highlight of both its exterior and interior façades, as expected from a property centered in what is considered to be the international hub of street art. It's safe to say the already buzzing streets of Wynwood are about to witness another cultural movement.
