Many Floridians, especially in the Magic City, were taken aback when Gov. Ron DeSantis declared strawberry shortcake the state's official dessert. The bill signed into law on March 7 left everyone questioning what should the state's official dessert be, with many opting for key lime pie as the right choice.
However, in Miami, home to a large Latino community, Flan is the only correct answer. Popular amongst city residents and in many varieties, flan's versatility is always a safe choice. But, not everyone likes its sweet eggy flavor. So to avoid clashes, we decided to put an end to this dessert dispute.
