World-renowned musician BJÖRK has announced her first-ever performance in Miami where she will be accompanied by a 32-piece orchestra for their event, BJÖRK Orchestral. The performance is co-presented by III Points, Club Space and The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. The ensemble is set to grace the stage for only two nights on February 13 and February 16 of 2022.
BJÖRK orchestral will perform a variety of BJÖRK's most beloved pieces with original acoustic arrangements from the local orchestra, conducted by Bjarni Frímann Bjarnason. The Rolling Stones has already deemed the performance, “An assertion of artistic mastery.”
BJÖRK is an artist who loves to experiment across creative genres, such as art, fashion, music and technology. She constantly dazzles the audience with her theatrical performances and show-stopping voice, along with her elaborate costumes and jewelry. Overall, BJÖRK is a passionate creative with an expansive music taste that helps her innovate and experiment with sound.
While COVID-19 threw a wrench in BJÖRK's previous plans to perform live, they managed to create virtual arrangements with members of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, flute septet Viibra and the Hamrahlid Choir. A portion of the sales was donated in support of women’s charities across the world.
The show has received much critical acclaim from its previous performances. “Whether the music thundered or shimmered, her clarion voice shone through,” said The New York Times in regard to BJÖRK Orchestral.
BJÖRK Orchestral will be held at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall in Miami. A pre-sale for Arsht Center Culturist members begins December 8 at 10 a.m. and for III Points subscribers December 9at 10 a.m. Tickets to the public will be for sale on December 10 at 10 a.m., including VIP packages, through the center’s box office or online.
