What if we told you Minecraft and Burberry have something in common?
The world’s leading sandbox video game and the iconic British fashion house are coming together to create an in-game adventure with some real-world perks. Dubbed “Burberry: Freedom to Go Beyond,” the new collaboration promises something for game lovers and fashionistas alike.
Building off their common values of adventure, creativity and self-expression, the new collaboration features platform extensions and experiences, paired with a physical capsule collection of buyable looks.
Inside the Minecraft universe, the partnership drops you into a corner of Minecraft as seen through Burberry’s eyes. Players are immersed in a Burberry world fleshed out with stunning architecture and lush landscapes. Grecian temples, golden plains and lavender fields are just some of the teased scenes players can look forward to.
Bringing the digital world of Minecraft into the physical world, the capsule collection resembles the items and characters of the in-game experience.
The capsule collection combines Burberry’s luxury style and eye for design with Minecraft’s recognizable pixelation. A real-life scarf is colored to resemble the pixels of its in-game counterpart, which players can equip on their avatars, while a sweatshirt is embroidered with pixelated flowers to mirror Burberry’s in-game flower fields.
Both the capsule collection and the “Burberry: Freedom to Go Beyond” free in-game adventure will launch on Nov. 1, with the sweater and scarf available via burberry.com and in stores around the globe.
If you’re itching for the game and capsule collection, you may be able to get your hands on some early access items and accessories in selected countries if you’re a Burberry subscriber. Early access begins Oct. 31.
While we wait for the new collection to drop in stores, you can sign up for the exclusive release and get access to exclusive in-game accessories through the Burberry website.
While this collection is Burberry’s first collaboration with a gaming franchise that has both in-person and virtual pieces, it’s not Burberry’s first foray into the digital sphere.
Earlier this year, the fashion company debuted an exclusive bag design for purchase in the web-based multi-player Roblox. This summer, Burberry also partnered with the interactive multi-player game Blankos Block Party on a series of gamified NFTs that included official Burberry accessories, boomboxes, sliders and more.
