New York’s heavy-hitting dining institutions have found a welcome home in Miami, and Catch Hospitality Group’s plan to open a 22,000 square foot outpost of its glamorous seafood locale in South of Fifth is the latest example.
Catch Miami Beach is dropping a pin in the upscale neighborhood that has seen the likes of Prime 112, Carbone, Joe’s Stone Crab and Stubborn Seed, pricey fine dining destinations known to attract a polished clientele.
Partners Tilman J. Fertitta, Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm of Catch Hospitality Group will oversee the opening of the restaurant’s seventh outpost, which is slated to occupy the restaurant space of the famed Continuum building owned by Robert Rivani's Black Lion.
“On the heels of two successful openings on the west coast, we are ready and eager to continue our expansion,” Fertitta said in a press release. “Miami Beach has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years and the city’s evolving dining scene makes it the perfect time to bring our iconic brand to one of the greatest destinations in the world.”
Designed by Rockwell Group, the same team behind Catch Steak Aspen and Catch Steak LA, the Miami Beach location will reflect its luxe tropical surroundings in what is referred to as Floridian “Mediterranean Deco.” A split between indoor dining and an al fresco experience, the future space boasts an open-air terrace with a retractable roof.
“Catch is a game changer for the neighborhood and Miami as whole,” Rivani said in the release. “Black Lion acquired this one of a kind building with a mission to curate a distinctive hospitality scene in South Pointe's ‘Restaurant Row’—an area that we continue to transform into an international hospitality destination."
Bronze, antique mirror, marble, lacquer paints and venetian plaster will decorate the interior, illuminated by dramatic lighting to set the tone. As far as the menu, a refined offering of seafood, sushi and steak will grace tables, with some options being quintessential Catch dishes alongside locally-influenced plates.
Dessert lovers and loyal patrons can rejoice in the same Catch “Hit Me” chocolate cake tower that has evolved into a cultural icon thanks to New York pastry chef Thiago Silva.
