Chanel No. 1 is a New Clean Beauty Line and a Fresh Start

The clean beauty revolution is here, and it’s already classic.
Chanel just launched a brand-new line of collection of products and its first ever to feature in all its beauty categories. Named Chanel No. 1, the nine-piece offering represents a fresh start, one that puts sustainability at its heart and re-imagines the French legacy brand’s approach to self-care.
“The most exciting thing for me is the holistic approach we have developed in this range,” Chanel’s International Innovation Research and Development VPL Nathalie Volpe is quoted in Cosmo, “because our ambition was to be able to bring visual and physical benefits—but was also benefits to your spirit.”
Poised as a clean line of products, Chanel No. 1 offers a powder-to-foam cleanse, an eye cream, a serum, a face cream, a foundation, lip and cheek balm, a serum-in-mist, a fragrance mist and a lotion. The revitalizing cream, crafted to smooth and plump, also comes in a refillable jar; one of a few steps toward sustainability taken by the No. 1 line.
The star of the new clean formula is the red camellia flower. The brand has reportedly studied its inherent ability to repair its own delicate petals for about a decade, and it’s created a concentrate of red camellia extract that targets our own natural aging process, claiming to offer customers a 25 percent decrease in wrinkles and visible pores, while increasing elasticity by a similar margin.
The formulas contain 97 percent naturally-derived ingredients, and the packaging is likewise eco-minded. The lid of the No. 1 cream is made with 90 percent bio-based materials, 10 percent of which are made from the camellia flower itself.
There are no cellophane or paper leaflets, and bottles are made of light-weight glass. Even the ink on the packaging is organic, and product info is delivered via QR code rather than booklets.
products range from the $45 lip and cheek balm to the $120 revitalizing serum, and are now available via Chanel.com and Ulta.com. Learn more about the No. 1 line and its creation process via Chanel’s website.
