We caught up with model and Ocean Drive February cover star, Charlotte McKinney, on how she handles the haters, her favorite cheat meal, and what she loves the most about the Magic City.
Supermodel Charlotte McKinney jetted to Miami (the city where she launched her thriving career) to celebrate her gorgeous Ocean Drive February issue cover at South Beach hot spot Byblos Miami. "It’s such a huge honor," McKinney says of landing the cover. The blue-eyed beauty has come a long way since her early days as a model in the Magic City: She's landed the Spring 2017 Guess campaign for the brand's underwear line, shot alongside DNCE heartthrob Joe Jonas, and is starring in the upcoming film, Baywatch.
Before the bash began, we chatted with McKinney on all things health and fitness—including her favorite cheat day meal—how she’s handled being bullied in the past, and what she loves most about the 305.
You look stunning this evening. Who are you wearing?
CHARLOTTE MCKINNEY: I’m decked out head-to-toe in Guess! I got to go to the store and pick out everything.
What do you love the most about Miami?
CM: I love the warm weather, the beach, and obviously, the nightlife!
What have you been doing since you’ve been in town?
CM: I’ve been sleeping! I got in on a red eye and was exhausted. But I’ll be hitting the beach soon.
You’re always in great shape. What are your top fitness tips?
CM: Staying hydrated and not yo-yo dieting. I don’t do dairy or gluten. I have a strong list of healthy foods that I eat. I also try to stay active and do a lot of hot yoga.
Ultimate cheat day meal?
CM: I love fried food—fried anything!
In the February issue, you talk about being bullied. What advice would you give to young girls in a similar situation?
CM: [Bullying] is such an issue, and I’m lucky to have a platform to talk about it. It’s all about keeping your head up and staying strong. I have a lot of support, but a lot of people don’t, so it’s nice to be able to be a voice.
