That’s a wrap for the 16th annual South Beach Wine & Food Festival. You got to eat, drink, snap some selfies, and (hopefully) steal a minute or two with your favorite cheflebrities. In case you still want more, we asked some of the city's and country’s top toques on their favorite moments of SOBEWFF.
Nobu Matsuhisa and José Andrés.
José Andrés: The Tribute Dinner & Being Surrounded by Culinary Greats
"I was happy to see so many friends throughout the weekend, and to see so much talent in one place. The highlight had to be the Tribute Dinner Saturday night. I was humbled and honored to be among my peers—the incredible dinner was made by my amigos Emeril, Andrew Zimmern, and Michael Voltaggio, and the leaders of my culinary team, Rubén and Aitor. And to be on stage with Tony as emcee and the wonderful Gloria Estefan—it was an evening I will never forget! And of course it was an honor to cook with my good friend Chef Nobu to benefit my non-profit organization World Central Kitchen, and to demonstrate eggs 10 ways with Duff Goldman, and everything and everyone in between—this will be a tough weekend to top!"
Nobu Matsuhisa: Working & Playing (with Some Time to Relax)
"It is always great to be in Miami for SOBEWFF. For me, it is the ultimate balance—work and play with some of my favorite chefs, then rest in the zen suite at Nobu Hotel Miami Beach."
Nina Compton: Catching up with Friends & Trying Upland
"It’s great coming back to Miami for South Beach Wine & Food Festival. I get to spend time with some of my best friends cooking and catching up like I never left. We were also able to check out some amazing new restaurants, like Upland. The high note would be listening to Massimo Bottura on his culinary philosophy and life lessons. Couldn’t have asked for a better trip!"
Jeremy Ford: Meeting French Chef Dominique Crenn
"My 'O' moment was getting some genuine time to chat with Dominique Crenn, who I have a ton of respect for."
Giorgio Rapicavoli: Participating in Best of the Best
"This year was my first time cooking at Best of the Best, and now I finally understand why they call it that—incredible wines and food from some of the best chefs in the country."
Alex Guarnaschelli: Watching Chefs Work & Talking All Things Food
"I found myself starstruck multiple times watching renowned chefs cooking or just talking about the passion that surrounds food and eating! The festival brings the public and the food community together like no other. I'm already looking forward to next year!"
Michael Schwartz: Honoring 10 Years of Michael's Genuine Food & Drink
Jonathan Waxman, Michael Schwartz, and Marc Vetri.
"Celebrating our 10th anniversary with my friends Marc and Jonathan, and so many people important to us at [Michael's Genuine Food & Drink]."
Anne Burrell: Seeing Old Friends & Cooking on the Beach
"Yet again #SOBEWFF was a smashing success! The sun, the sand, the fun, the food, and the wine! I love demo-ing on the beach with a lovely view of the ocean. My other favorite part about this festival is seeing great friends that I don't get to see often. And, of course, it's all for a great cause."
Joseph "JJ" Johnson: Starting a Dance Party with Carla Hall & Splashing around The Villa Casa Casuarina for WinenDine
"Top moment had to be dancing with Carla Hall at Chicken Coupe, then everyone [following] our lead. And hosting my first-ever pool party with WinenDine at [The Villa Casa Casuarina, formerly the] Versace Mansion with my closest chef friends was epic. It was really great to see the food community come out and support each other, while having a place for us to hang in the sun and take a dip during Miami's daytime heat."
