On March 10, mark your calendar for a Sunday brunch like no other at Chug’s Diner—well, in the back lot of Chug’s Diner. Chef and owner of Ariete Hospitality Group Michael Beltran is preparing to host another edition of “Cars and Croquetas,” the annual charity classic car show and street party benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Whether you’re a foodie, car enthusiast, Coconut Grove resident or cancer survivor, this free event promises an epic lineup of food and beverage vendors, entertainment programming, merch and a special auction item that grants an at-home, four-course dinner for two by Chef Beltran.
Food and beverage options include K-Town and Chug’s frita sliders (2 for $10), buffalo chicken croquetas with Dorito breading by Chug’s, frito pie croquetas by USBS, bacon egg and cheese by Chug’s and sweet pastelitos by Pastelito Papi. Guests are encouraged to pair these dishes with coffee from Imperial Moto and cocktails by Una Vodka, Brugal and Marielita.
Those looking to flaunt their custom wheels can block a spot for $35, to be formally judged in the Car Show Awards. Adding to the excitement, guests can also win raffle prizes such as F&B experiences at Ariete, Luca Osteria, Zak the Baker, Pubbelly Sushi, Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop and Kush Hospitality, as well as memberships at Lion Heart Boxing Gym. Exclusive event tees and Chef Beltran’s own PIG Inc. merchandise will be available for purchase.
The meaning behind the event is personal for Chef Beltran, whose mother was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia two years ago.
“This is an event and cause that’s close to my heart,” Chef Beltran said in a press release. “My mother has been amazing and is such a fighter but it’s been a hard road for her. Every dollar we raise for the LLS helps with research into and protocols to help combat these types of cancer and that’s something I have dedicated myself to.”
