The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, presented by Other World Computing, will be roaring into Miami Beach as part of a celebration of activism and peace with a “Bed-In on the Beach” event at The Betsy Hotel South Beach.
Miami - come together, right now - for a day filled with peace, love and a ton of fun.
The highly-anticipated Come Together Miami residency is back this Saturday for its seventh year, bringing with it the “Bed-in on the Beach” public event that will feature guests like internet sensation Blac Rabbit, American Idol’s Michelle Sussett and more.
The theme? Activism. “Bed-In on the Beach” will unite students, artists and elected officials as they celebrate and inspire student activism in honor of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s legendary non-violent protests in support of world peace.
The event will include a special group sing-along of The Beatles and John Lennon songs, including “Give Peace a Chance,” led by Blac Rabbit. As an added bonus, Miami-Dade County students of all ages will be able to step aboard The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, which will provide hands-on creative experiences including learning the ins and outs of creating music.
“John would be very proud to know that this project encourages young people everywhere to embrace their creativity and share their ideas for peace,” says Yoko Ono Lennon.
The “bed-in” concept is a result of the media frenzy surrounding Lennon and Ono’s 1969 wedding. The high-profile couple knew their nuptials would be covered heavily by the media, so they used the publicity for good by inviting the press into their bedroom to discuss world peace, and “bed-in” was born.
The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is open to the public this Saturday starting at 1pm, and will provide an exclusive look at the latest in music products and audio, video and broadcast technologies.
