It all started in 2010, when a girl with a camera had an idea to catalogue women on the streets of Manhattan, providing her daily dose of fashion inspiration—because to the girl behind the lens, getting dressed in the morning was the easiest part of her day and the most wildly fun. Today, Danielle Bernstein, the brainchild behind WeWoreWhat, has amassed 2.1 million followers and isn’t only lending style tips via her Instagram account, but is making waves in the global world of fashion. Recently named the US Ambassador for Italian lingerie line, Intimissimi, Bernstein is showing women that sexy sleepwear can be chic streetwear too.
We sat down with Bernstein to hear more about her partnership with Intimissimi, experimenting with lingerie, and her must-have beach accessories for this coming summer.
Danielle, first off, tell us about your collaboration with Intimissimi?
DANIELLE BERNSTEIN: I am proud to be the US Ambassador for Intimissimi this year, which means I'll be exclusively wearing them as my lingerie and sleepwear brand and doing a series of events with them.
What can Miami shoppers look forward to seeing at Intimissimi's upcoming Miami stores?
DB: Shoppers can look forward to seeing wearable and affordable pieces that have a high-end, fashion-forward look and feel.
As their new face, what designs will you be spotlighting?
DB: The silk sets are some of my favorite pieces that I wear most often.
Experimenting with lingerie often makes women self-conscious. What's your advice for feeling your best—and your most confident—while showing skin?
DB: One of the best things about Intimissimi lingerie is that it's made to be seen. Even though it's definitely sexy, you don't feel naked or too revealing in any of the looks.
Looking back, was there a time someone made a comment that made you feel insecure, and you turned it around into a positive experience?
DB: I have haters on my Instagram almost every single day and I always tell myself haters mean you're doing something right.
As the mastermind behind WeWoreWhat, which look are you eager to put on your page as a daily dose of fashion?
DB: The white silk pajama set.
Boasting 2.1 million followers, how did your journey begin?
DB: Most people don't know this, but WeWoreWhat started as a street style blog back in 2010. I was photographing girls around New York City to provide a daily dose of outfit inspiration for what should be the easiest part of your day—getting dressed in the morning.
Today, you’re a fashion forward web icon. How do you see WeWoreWhat growing in the future?
DB: I will remain focused on WeWoreWhat and growing it as a lifestyle brand, but will also focus on growing my lines of swim and overalls and investing in new companies and opportunities.
And as we approach the summer season, what’s your go-to beach accessory?
DB: A wicker bag or a straw boater hat.
