For David Gusky, launching the French jewelry maison Davidor was a lifelong process. Growing up in the jewelry industry, Gusky was fortunate to be exposed to diverse cultures from an early age, thanks primarily to his parents, who ran a mass-production fine jewelry business. This served as a blueprint for his entrepreneurial journey.
“I learned all of the important attributes of what it means to be in the fine jewelry business,” Gusky says. “I took it and developed a more refined version for the luxury sector.”
Churning out vibrant, one-of-a-kind handmade collections, it is essential to Gusky that every piece is unique. Working with precious metals, natural diamonds and gemstones, each piece takes six to 12 weeks to craft, demonstrating a deep respect for the jewelers who create these works of art.
“It made sense to go into jewelry; I always loved jewelry—the art of creating it and the wearability of it and how it impacts people and marks special occasions,” he shares.
But Gusky’s fascination and creativity go beyond jewelry. He shares his deep respect for 16th-century Palladian architecture, which has since become a storytelling medium and is central to Davidor’s identity.
“I felt that it was important in creating a brand to have a recognizable symbol,” he shares. “The arch is not just a beautiful shape; it’s a symbol that has been part of architecture for hundreds of years, and it’s very poignant for me because I fell in love with these palladian arches and the villas from childhood.”
The motif signifies strength and a passageway, with the arch’s ability to offer different perspectives.
“Every time you look through it, you see a different view,” he shares, emphasizing the narrative quality infused into each design.
Harmonizing tradition with modern innovation, Davidor’s unique use and proprietary innovation of lacquered ceramic pay homage to ancient jewelry craftsmanship. Taking a neoclassical modern approach to design, Gusky draws inspiration from Miami’s vibrant color scheme.
“The idea of Davidor was to bring creativity and tell this happy story, creating color from flora and fauna indicative of the environment you see all over the world,” he says.
With over 11,500 combinations, Davidor’s luxury designs are highly collectible, ranging in color and size, as well as diamond patterns and gold. Inviting self-expression and individuality, Davidor allows you to create a piece of your own history through its exquisite designs. 9700 Collins Ave., Bal Harbour,@davidor
