When asking Franks how she would describe this collection, her definitive answer was, “Escapism”. With travel having been the primary source of inspiration for her previous collections she had to think differently as travel halted and the world began to shut down a year and a half ago, all while working on this collection. Franks further explores the idea that this collection is a form of escapism and using it to travel back in time was an essential part of the creation process. By looking at her pieces and the creativity behind each one, your mind does truly escape into each and every little detail.
The brand was built on experiencing the unexpected and unknown and her latest collection is just that! From multi-color pieces to psychedelic prints in all aspects of resort wear including, swimwear, coverups, pants and tops; CAMILLA delivers the unexpected once again. If you know CAMILLA’s clothing, you know that the prints are one of a kind. Franks explains “My prints become a diary of my travels, communicating the essence of far-flung destinations, communities and culture.” Noting that all her prints have a special place in her heart and are essentially her diaries on silk canvas, becoming a combination of imagery and her personal experiences. She shared that during the design period, the CAMILLA design space replicates a large canvas, filled with the various items and treasures collected on her travels. Additionally, filtering through approximately 30,000 images, focussing on photos, textiles, artifacts and jewelry as an essential part of the inspiration process.

CAMILLA participated in Miami Swim Week with the Arts Hearts Fashion. “In our Camilla world”, she explained, “We take the word ‘show’ very seriously.” She shared that the idea of theatre and playfulness used throughout her runway shows are a celebration of each woman’s unique identity and their right to feel beautiful. Her Saturday evening show depicted just that, as every model showed their individuality through their walk and the way they carried her clothing line.
