Step into the boundless imagination of Marta Minujín as the Miami Design District and ICA Miami present Dreamscape, a mesmerizing public installation on view from March 18 to 31, 2025.
Marta Minujín: Dreamscape arrives in Miami as a spellbinding convergence of art, scale, and sensory immersion. Presented by the Miami Design District and The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami), this extraordinary public exhibition marks the Argentine artist’s first large-scale installation in the city. From March 18 to 31, 2025, visitors will encounter two of Minujín’s monumental inflatable sculptures, each designed to envelop the senses and challenge perceptions.
Commanding attention at Jungle Plaza, Sculpture of Desires stands 30 feet tall, an ethereal fusion of intertwined arms that glow with a dreamlike luminescence. This soft, sculptural portal beckons visitors to enter its embrace, while Emotional Candy, a labyrinth of vibrant corridors, disorients and delights in equal measure. Birdsongs echo through these immersive spaces, encouraging quiet introspection as guests whisper their wishes into Minujín’s undulating forms. Their neon hues and dynamic patterns harken back to the artist’s pioneering mattress sculptures of the 1960s—playful, tactile environments designed to be experienced from within.
Since the 1960s, Minujín has defied artistic conventions, forging a path that blends performance, installation, and mass media. From The Destruction (1963), in which she set fire to her own works, to her legendary Parthenon of Books (1983), a towering tribute to censored literature, her oeuvre is a testament to art’s power to provoke, unite, and transcend. With Dreamscape, she continues her lifelong exploration of participatory environments, inviting audiences to step inside a world where art is not just seen, but felt.
An exclusive opening celebration with the artist will take place on March 18 at 6 p.m. Marta Minujín: Dreamscape is conceived and co-produced by Meet People Meet Places with the support of Fundación Ama Amoedo, Craig Robins, and Clarice O. Tavares. For more information, click here. Miami Design District
