Stone Crab Season Is Almost Here! Top 5 Not-To-Be-Missed October Events in Miami, Presented by South Beach Seafood Festival

With stone crab season kicking off in a few short weeks, what better way to celebrate than by attending Miami's most hotly-anticipated seafood event of the year? At the South Beach Seafood Festival (from October 16 through October 20), there's an endless offering of amazing food, drinks, and fun. So, mark your calendars now for these five amazing foodie events happening this October.

Tuesday, October 16: An Evening at Joe's

What better way to kickoff the South Beach Seafood Festival than with a visit to the historic Joe's Stone Crab in Miami Beach? On October 16, 50 guests will dine in the over 100+ year old Jesse’s room, where greats like Al Capone and Frank Sinatra once cracked claws. Executive chef Andre Bienvenu will serve a five-course meal that will showcase the area's delicious seafood offerings, including Florida stone crab (some of the best in the world). Attendees will also be treated to a fabulous wine pairing to complement their meal thanks to the event's host, Breakthru Beverage, and E&J Gallo, with their partner master sommeliers from J Vineyards.

Wednesday, October 17: Cooking & Cocktails

Chef Sean Brasel and GOYA Food’s Executive Chef Fernando Desa have prepared a feast for day two of the South Beach Seafood Festival. An all-inclusive ticket to this special "Cooking & Cocktails" experience at Meat Market Miami, gets you a seat at a tapas-style six-course dinner that will tantalize your taste buds with elevated dishes featuring ingredients from the best of GOYA Foods, served alongside a bevy of Herradura cocktails. Thursday, October 18: Crabs, Slabs and Cabs

The "Crabs, Slabs and Cabs" at Shelborne South Beach's VIP pool deck garden is set to feature a selection of the very best in surf n' turf thanks to the chefs of Menin Hospitality. Wagyu beef to Alaskan king crab, jumbo lump crab cakes, and short rib tacos are all on the menu at stations from Shelborne, Mondrian, Root and Bone, and Bodega, and will be offered with a variety of California's finest wines at each of the six fabulous food stations, brought to you by Louis Martini and Fleur de Mer. Take in the view and mingle with some of the evening's biggest VIPs at this once-in-a-lifetime event, before trying Baptist Health’s culinary showcase and GOYA’s sides station. Dance the night away with The Caberet South Beach and don't forget to say hello to this year's local foodie co-hosts: The Food-E (Nick Pena) and Miami Food Porn (Dana Rozansky), who will be adding some new and surprising experiential twists to this evening under the stars. Friday, October 19: VIP WEEKEND EVENT: Chef Showdown

If you consider yourself a true foodie, there's no missing out on the South Beach Seafood Festival's annual Chef Showdown. This Friday night event, brought to you by Talbott Vineyards, welcomes guests to the GOYA Culinary Pavilion on the sands of South Beach for an all-inclusive evening of battle-worthy food tastings at all participating battle locations, premier open bar, endless VIP experiences and a live chef competition unlike anything you've seen, topped off with sounds by Yissel making this the ultimate beach bash. Armed with a special seafood ingredient provided during each hotly anticipated battle, 14 Miami-based chefs are tasked with creating their very best dish in front of a rowdy live audience, who will be voting for their favorite chefs throughout the night! At the time of publication, this annually sold out event had less than 200 tickets left.

Saturday, October 20, MAIN FESTIVAL DAY: South Beach Seafood Festival

On the final day of the SoBe Seafood Festival, attendees are invited to enter this five block festival in South Beach’s Lummus Park filled with sand, sun, and fun foodie experiences. Visit any of the selected 20 pop up café’s from Miami's best eateries showcasing over 70 of their finest dishes.
