These Miami Heat NBA champions aren't just serving up locals with three-pointers and slam dunks, but firing up their palettes with a woodfired pizza kitchen that specializes in all things open flame. Teaming up with Woodfired Kitchen founder and Chef Anthony Carron, this all-star squad is ready to take home the bronze, silver, and gold with plates like pastrami cheeseburgers, their black tie wood-oven pizza, and healthy lunch options like their 800 Degrees power bowls. Coined 800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen, this new red sauce hot spot—with sister locations in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, Tokyo, Dubai, Doha, and Qatar—is changing up the global game of pizza one slice at a time.
So Ocean Drive sat down with Wade and Haslem, to hear more about opening their very first restaurant together, what fans have to look forward to experiencing, and their favorite go-to dishes.
A Global Partner and owner of this hot new eatery, tell us about 800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen. DWYANE WADE: 800 Degrees specializes in food cooked in wood-burning ovens. Our diverse menu offers something for everyone and it’s not just pizza. The woodfired dishes also include rotisserie meats and vegetables, salads, and power bowls.
What inspired you to first open a restaurant? UDONIS HASLEM: DWade and I bounced around a few concepts, but in the end, the 800 Degrees family was the difference. They allowed us to include full service into the concept, have input on new items on the menu, and trust us and our team to also implement new designs on the inside. They believed in us and our vision, and with them being a great brand, we felt it was a great partnership for both sides.
With basketball season in full gear, what can fans look forward to experiencing and what dishes do you suggest diners to try? DW: They can look forward to enjoying a unique dining experience in a relaxed and inviting environment. Each dish is made with high-quality ingredients and is delicious. I love the chicken rotisserie, but the DWade’s Woodfired Burger is my favorite. I worked with Chef Anthony Carron to create the right flavors and we hit it out of the park.
And Udonis, how did this powerhouse partnership between yourself and Wade begin? UH: DWade and I have always wanted to continue to grow off the court. We have had so much success working together in basketball. As we pivot to businessmen, we'd love to have that same success.
Have you and your teammates been able to chow down at your new outpost yet? UH: No, we have not had a team dinner there yet. That's something we are saving for right before we start the playoffs. We have a team dinner every year when we get in and 800 is the destination this year.
