eBay Launches Luxury Apparel Consignment Program For Verified Prada, Gucci And More

Great looks never go out of style, and if you’re in the market for some vintage Balenciaga, Prada, Gucci, or even Supreme, a new online retailer hopes you’ll try its certified consignment treasure trove.
Okay, we lied. eBay is not a new online retailer, but the peer-to-peer marketplace’s expanded luxury apparel consignment service is.
The service, launched just this week, allows casual sellers to list and sell their pre-loved looks in collaboration with eBay’s luxury goods experts, who help make the most of the listing with high-end photography, intelligent pricing and more. A percentage of each sale is paid to eBay for the service, and the larger the final retail price, the smaller the percentage eBay takes.
This is great news for folks wanting to be more sustainable with their collections. For years, the fashion world has focused on finding ways to reduce waste and improve its environmental impact. However, the easiest way to help the cause as a consumer is to fill your closet with quality pieces designed to last a lifetime.
Shoppers on the platform are already taking that to heart, as eBay notes that 22 pre-loved shirts, six pairs of pre-loved jeans, and eight pre-loved coats were sold every minute on eBay across the U.S., U.K. and Germany in 2023.
This new luxury apparel consignment service aims to make that process even more streamlined, profitable and trusted, as it brings eBay’s authenticity guarantee program into the fold. Truly, it’s an expansion of existing platforms, including eBay’s Direct from Brand and Certified by Brand programs that help designers sell directly to consumers.
The system was tested last year when eBay launched its luxury consignment handbag department. That program has proven profitable for sellers thanks to eBay experts’ assistance.
Aimé Leon Dore, Balenciaga, Gucci, Kith, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Stone Island and Supreme are all eligible brands for the program. Learn how it works and see a full breakdown of payout percentages at ebay.com.
